Smiling man's face  Why Alpha?

Because Alpha covers the basics of Christianity in a friendly, non-threatening environment. No question is regarded as too hostile or too simple. The atmosphere is fun, with plenty of scrumptious food, stimulating conversation, and loads of laughter.

Smiling female face  Who is Alpha?

Everyone is welcome on an Alpha course. And a variety of people come from many religious backgrounds. Whether you've been a Christian for 30 years and need to brush up on the basics, or you are someone who has never been to Church a day in your life, Alpha is for you. Alpha is for the unchurched, the non-Christian, the Agnostic or Atheist, the new or long-time Christians who want to firm up what they believe, or those on a spiritual quest.

Smiling man's face  When and Where is Alpha?

Alpha begins at 6:30 pm on Monday evenings for the 6 week duration. The next introduction will be on September 8, 2008. We meet at the church, located at 3725 Apalachee Parkway.

The course begins with a dinner followed by a talk. We then divide into smaller groups for coffee and dessert to discuss any questions raised from the talk. There is also an opportunity to go on a get-away-weekend. This has been a key part of the Alpha course and a great success in helping people get to know each other.

Smiling older couple  How much does Alpha cost?

Alpha is sponsored Community of Life - there is no charge for anyone who wishes to participate in the Alpha course. A donation to cover lodging is accepted from those who choose to attend the get-a-way weekend.

Who says you shouldn't talk about religion or politics? Do you have questions that really need answers? Would you like a free, relaxed, safe atmosphere, where your questions will be heard and valued? Is it time to find out for yourself what you really believe?

Come eat dinner with us. Watch a movie. Give Alpha a try. Just like your questions, Alpha is worth exploring. It's all free - all we ask is that you let us know you're coming so we have enough for everyone to eat.

Alpha is one of two courses on our "life path", leading to membership at St. Luke's (the other is Beta).
